copied from my craigslist posting:
I'm 22, I also play Piano and Bass. I have equipment and transportation. I can possibly do some type of vocals. I'm also willing to start a band.
I'm into strong driving guitar lines, emotional melodys, intense buildups and intense parts and I love playing a crazy live show. Overall I'm just really into the music. I'm just looking to make some great music and it's more about meeting the right people right now, so I'm very open to as what I want to play, all that matters is that I have fun and can work hard.

I guess since no one else wants to answer I will try.
It's hard though, one of the first bands that really got me going in the direction that I am now is Welcome the plague year so they are definitely up there for me, and I can't really leave out raein since to me they are basically like the classic screamo band.

They sound really good, but I think the best is the quote from the Manatee punks or whatever. Classic.

What is DIY?
September 20, 2008 by line19song5
Do it yourself, often referred to by the acronym DIY, is a term used by various communities that focus on people creating or repairing things for themselves without the aid of paid professionals. The notion is related in philosophy to the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Many modern DIY subcultures take the traditional Arts and Crafts movement's rebellion against the perceived lack of soul of industrial aesthetics a step further. DIY subculture explicitly critiques modern consumer culture, which emphasizes that the solution to our needs is to purchase things, and instead encourage people to take technologies into their own hands to solve needs.
In music today DIY is associated with the international alternative and hardcore music scenes. Members of these subcultures strive to blur the lines between creator and consumer by constructing a social network that ties users and makers close together.
That's just what wikipedia has to say, anyone is welcome to add or put in your own words.
